Pelalawan -Your promise is not as beautiful as your proof, that’s what the Air Kuning Cooperative farmer group representing the people of Kerumutan Village, Kerumutan District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau feels.
The reason is, for twenty-two years (22) the Air Kuning farming community has demanded a 750 ha land claim from PT Ganarea Hendana, but until now this has not been realized to the Kerumutan Kelurahan community.
This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Air Kuning Mandiri Cooperative, Ismail during a friendly visit to the JMSI Pelalawan Office, Wednesday (15/2/2023) on Jalan Akasi Pangkalan Kerinci.
“We ask for support from media partners to fight for our rights, which has been going on for about 22 years. Because so far we have demanded the company to hand over the palm oil land that sells it to the community,” said the Head of the Air Kuning Mandiri Cooperative, Ismail, telling of his struggle.
Ismail explained, he and the Kerumutan Village community only asked for rights from the community which were handed over in accordance with the promises and agreements made from 2021. However, until now PT Ganarea Hendana does not have the good faith to hand over the obligation in the form of plasma plantations to the community through the Cooperative.
“We have been struggling since 2001 until now. Finally, we sat down with the One-Stop Investment and Services Agency (DPMPTSP) and talked with PT. Ganarea Hendana, we will share the minutes later, sir,” said Ismail in the hope of realizing it soon.
Ismail added, a few days ago he had submitted a letter of notification of the mass action to the Pelalawan Police, regarding the lack of follow-up from mediation with the Regional Government under DPMPTSP.
“Once again we convey to the Government and the Company that we only want our rights to be granted, because that is where we can send our children to school, even to make ends meet for our daily lives. On the land where we were born, our rights were not granted even though it has been regulated by law that 20 percent of the area of the HGU is,” he said.
He hopes that media partners can assist the public in voicing rights that should have been received decades ago. The voice of the people must reach the leaders in Senayan, even the President. (Team
